About the Family
A warm, active family on the Main Line is seeking an exceptional Special Needs Nanny / Family Assistant, to primarily support their wonderful 7-year-old daughter.

The family has three children, ages 9, 7, and 4. Their 7 year old daughter is funny, loving, gentle, and active and has developmental delays requiring hands-on support and supervision. She has limited verbal language and uses an AAC/communication device. She also has a history of seizures and is currently working on potty training. She attends school nearby and needs someone who can make her afternoons engaging and fun while also recognizing when she needs downtime. She loves music, walks, playgrounds, and being outside, Both parents are work from home often, and the family also employs a full-time Housekeeper/Organizer and laundress. This is a very collaborative, all-hands-on-deck household. They also have a friendly Lab puppy who will eventually be trained as a service dog, plus two senior cats.

Responsibilities

  • School pickup and transportation to activities
  • Provide hands-on care, supervision, and personal care for daughter
  • Plan fun and meaningful activities based on her mood and energy
  • Encourage use of her AAC/communication device and reinforce strategies recommended by school
  • Support toileting, routines, communication, and independence
  • Help with daughter’s belongings, snacks, organization, and kid-related cleanup
  • Assist with the other children when an extra set of hands is needed
  • Work collaboratively with parents and household staff
  • Jump in and help wherever needed within the household
  • Occasional evenings, overnights, weekends, and seasonal travel

Ideal Candidate: The family is looking for someone positive, upbeat, patient, proactive, and extremely dependable. Punctuality is very important. The ideal person has a true “yes”/helper mentality – someone who notices what needs to be done and jumps in rather than waiting for a checklist. They should be playful and active with their daughter while also being calm enough to give her the time she needs to process and communicate.

Experience with special needs, developmental delays, AAC devices, special education, OT/PT, behavioral support, or seizures/epilepsy is highly valued. Personal experience with a sibling or family member with special needs could also be a wonderful fit.

Candidates must be comfortable providing hands-on care, working alongside parents and household staff, driving, traveling occasionally, and helping with all three children when needed. Valid driver’s license, legal authorization to work in the U.S., strong references, and successful background checks required.
