About the Family

A warm, kind, and highly engaged international family relocating to Boca Raton this summer is seeking an exceptional, top-tier Governess / Educator to support their two young boys during an important academic and cultural transition into the U.S. school system.

Children: Two boys, ages 4 and 8 (primary academic focus on the 8-year-old)

Additional Household Members: Grandmother resides in the home and is actively involved in childcare
Household Staff: Full-time Housekeeper and part-time Cook

This is a critical role within the household, centered on ensuring a smooth, confident transition into a new educational environment. The family places a high value on education, structure, and emotional support, and is seeking a candidate who can provide both academic guidance and a nurturing presence during this period of change. The children are respectful, kind, and eager to learn, and will benefit greatly from thoughtful, patient support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily after-school academic support, with primary focus on the 8-year-old’s transition into the American curriculum
  • Assist with homework completion, test preparation, and reinforcement of classroom learning
  • Help organize, plan, and prepare schoolwork, projects, and study schedules
  • Develop age-appropriate educational strategies to support comprehension, confidence, and independence
  • Collaborate with parents to monitor academic progress and adjust support as needed
  • Provide weekend support to prepare for the upcoming school week (reviewing material, organizing assignments, etc.)
  • Foster a structured, calm, and encouraging learning environment
  • Offer gentle guidance and emotional support as the children adjust to a new country, school, and routine

Ideal Candidate & Personality

The ideal candidate is a highly educated, polished, and experienced educator who brings both academic excellence and emotional intelligence to their work. They are patient, kind, and intuitive, with a genuine passion for helping children succeed—especially during periods of transition.

This individual is flexible, proactive, and confident in their ability to tailor learning approaches to each child’s needs. They understand the nuances of integrating into a new school system and can provide both structure and encouragement. Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a calm, supportive demeanor are essential.

This role is best suited for a former teacher, educator, or governess with experience in high-level private households or academic environments, who is seeking a meaningful, impactful position.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Strong academic background from a well-regarded, accredited university
  • Prior experience in a similar role (private educator, governess, or teacher)
  • Demonstrated success supporting school-aged children academically
  • Excellent, verifiable references
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable personality
  • Availability for consistent weekday afternoons and weekend support

This is a rare opportunity for a highly qualified educator to make a meaningful impact within a thoughtful and appreciative family. Interviews will begin immediately with a start date of late July / early August.
