Private Couple in Larchmont, NY is looking for a Meticulous, Organized Housekeeper/Family Assistant

Location: Larchmont, NY

Compensation: $40/hour DOE (Negotiable for an Exceptional Candidate)

Schedule: Full-Time, Guaranteed 30-35 Hours/Week (Number of hours is negotiable for the right candidate, not less than 30 hours/week)

About the Family

A warm, kind, and appreciative couple in Larchmont, NY is seeking an experienced Housekeeper / Family Assistant to help maintain and manage their beautiful 6,000-square-foot home. Their college-aged daughter is away at school for much of the year but returns home during vacations and summers, and their beloved mini Labradoodle is an important member of the family.

The principals travel frequently and are looking for a highly capable, trustworthy professional who can take ownership of the home, anticipate needs, and ensure everything runs smoothly whether they are home or away.

This is a wonderful long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys creating order, takes pride in maintaining a home to exceptionally high standards, and is willing to jump in wherever needed.

Schedule

The family will guarantee 30-35  hours per week, depending on candidate’s needs. Negotiable for the right candidate.

Typical Schedule:

  • Monday and Friday: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM
  • Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Thursday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Flexibility is very important. On occasions when the principals will be in the city later in the evening, the candidate may be asked to stay until approximately 7:00 PM-7:30 PM to assist with caring for the family’s dog. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Household Maintenance

The family employs a cleaning person twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 AM-1:30 PM) to handle deep cleaning. Therefore, this role focuses primarily on maintaining the home throughout the week and ensuring it consistently meets the family’s high standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Daily household upkeep and maintenance
  • Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing, and touch-up cleaning as needed
  • Making beds and refreshing bedrooms
  • Maintaining the kitchen, family room, primary bedroom, and primary bathroom, which are the most frequently used areas of the home
  • Caring for hardwood floors, luxury appliances, fine furnishings, crystal, specialty surfaces, and high-end fabrics
  • Keeping the home organized, tidy, and guest-ready at all times

Laundry & Wardrobe Care

  • Manage all household laundry
  • Properly wash, fold, hang, steam, and organize clothing
  • Care for fine linens, delicate fabrics, and specialty garments
  • Maintain closets and wardrobes
  • Ironing skills are highly preferred

Meal Preparation

  • Prepare a few simple dinners each week (i.e. salmon, salad, broccoli, corn, etc.)
  • Wash, chop, and prepare fruits and vegetables for the household
  • Assist with light food preparation and kitchen organization
  • Learn and accommodate the family’s dietary preferences, including gluten-free needs for the husband and daughter

Family Assistant & Household Support

  • Grocery shopping and household supply runs
  • Dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up
  • Returns and exchanges
  • Pharmacy, UPS, post office, and other errands
  • Maintain organized records and receipts for all purchases and returns
  • Assist with various household and personal projects as requested
    • Conduct online research as requested
    • Source products, services, and solutions for the household
    • Assist with various administrative tasks related to household management
    • Maintain organized records and documentation
    • Demonstrate excellent follow-through on all assignments

Vendor Coordination & Household Management

  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, service providers, and maintenance professionals
  • Research and identify qualified vendors when needed
  • Schedule appointments and oversee work in the home
  • Follow projects through to completion
  • Communicate proactively with the principals regarding household needs and updates
  • Ensure household supplies and inventory remain fully stocked

Pet Care

  • Care for the family’s friendly mini Labradoodle
  • Coordinate grooming and veterinary appointments
  • Occasional walks and companionship
  • Assist with dog care when principals are traveling or working late
