Full-Time Live-Out Housekeeper

Princeton, NJ | Monday–Friday | $45/hour | W-2

A warm private family in Princeton, NJ is seeking an experienced, hands-on Full-Time Live-Out Housekeeper to join their household team. This is a busy, active home with multiple children and established household staff, so the ideal candidate will be confident working independently, have excellent attention to detail, and genuinely enjoy maintaining a large family home.

The schedule is flexible and may be structured as 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm, or 12pm–8pm, depending on the candidate. The later schedule would allow the housekeeper to work independently for much of the afternoon while also assisting with dinner preparation and evening household needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and overall presentation of a large private residence
• Perform detailed routine and deep cleaning, including floors, grout, bathrooms, kitchens, appliances, windows, and other high-touch areas
• Take a hands-on approach to cleaning and be comfortable tackling detailed projects
• Manage a significant amount of family laundry, including washing, folding, ironing, steaming, and putting clothing away
• Create and maintain organizational systems throughout the home
• Take ownership of household organization projects, closets, storage areas, and other spaces as needed
• Keep common areas, family spaces, kitchen, and dining areas neat and orderly
• Organize pool and outdoor areas, including pool toys and equipment
• Assist with simple meal preparation several times per week and help keep the kitchen clean and organized
• Work collaboratively with the existing household team while also being comfortable working independently
• Occasionally assist at the family’s summer residence in Rumson, NJ (if able) 

This is a strictly housekeeping-focused position with no childcare responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a seasoned private housekeeper who takes pride in doing things thoroughly and correctly. This person should be proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced family environment.

The household can be busy, with many moving parts throughout the day, so the ability to stay calm under pressure, prioritize, and keep moving without needing constant direction is important. The family is looking for someone who can see what needs to be done and take ownership of it.

A candidate who enjoys cooking and can comfortably prepare simple family meals is highly preferred.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a private housekeeper in a large, busy household
• Strong deep-cleaning skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent laundry and garment-care skills, including ironing and steaming
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish practical household systems
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a household team
• Comfortable around children and pets
• Ability to prepare simple family meals
• Reliable and professional
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred for occasional travel to the family’s summer residence

Compensation & Benefits

• $45/hour
• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Flexible 8-hour schedule: approximately 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm, or 12pm–8pm
